About the Harmony Institute
The Harmony Institute seeks to attain these goals by conducting objective research, publishing books and documents, and establishing educational programs that focus on the similarities and common bonds between the world's religions.
We believe the world would be a more peaceful place if more people realized how much the religions agree and share.
In an effort to make these concepts accessible to as many as people as possible, the information and programs produced by the Harmony Institute are targeted at the general public. Our goal is to make this information as objective, logical, and easy-to-understand as possible.
The Harmony Institute has an ongoing and ever-changing list of programs and projects to support these goals.
New Book explores the common core teachings of the world's religions
Exploring the Common Core of the World's Religions and Modern Science
This book discusses the similarities between the world's religions, and further shows parallels between religion and modern science. The book attempts to bring these parallels to light in a simple and understandable way.
It shows how the world's religions, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bahai, and Indigenous, are in agreement on the most important questions.
See the book's website for more information.
Ongoing Peace ProjectsThe Harmony Institute finds that the study of the common teachings results in opportunities for Peace, both inner and outer peace.
Inner PeaceAll the religions and modern science agree, that we can follow certain instructions and follow a path towards attaining inner peace. Compassion for other beings, prayer and meditation, self-hypnosis, inner searching, and study, are examples of instructions that all the disciplines agree are helpful in pursuing inner peace. The Harmony Institute's founder, Gary Beckwith, is a Certified Hypnotherapist and a student of the power of the human mind.
The Harmony Institute seeks to promote the suggestions of the religions and science and to help people on their path to inner peace, with the following programs:
Outer Peace (World Peace)One of the greatest effects of studying the common teachings of the world's religions is the realization that they are all connected and compatable with each other. While religion has been used as an excuse to kill and cause wars for centuries, the world will some day (hopefully soon) realize that religion can also be used to connect, heal, and realize our common bonds with all cultures of the earth.
And as we realize our connection with each other, we also realize our connection with future generations and the earth itself. To this effect, the Harmony Institute promotes environmental education. The Institute's founder, Gary Beckwith, is Solar Energy expert, having spent several years in the field, designing renewable energy systems and writing about how they work in publications for Real Goods, a retailer of renewable energy systems and environmental products.
The Harmony Institute seeks to promote World Peace and Environmental Protection, with the following programs:
